Running My First 5K Race

I ran my first 5K today in Cleveland, TN in support of recycling. The race was sponsored by Terra Running Company.

I finished 97th out of 245 people with a time of 31:58. 10:18 minutes per mile. Weight at the time: 204 pounds.

I ran the first two miles really well. Struggled on the last mile. Did no training for this so I’m happy with the results. I simply wanted to finish the race. It was the longest I had ever run at the time. This is addicting.

It’s a neat community of really supportive and motivated people.

What I learned: You need a mantra to motivate yourself. Running is more heart than body. It is a fulfilling endeavor.

Ego will carry you across the finish line.
